Attendees got to see the latest in HD camcorders and file-based workflow built around Panasonic's P2 HD format.
Tom Parrish from Panasonic showed the new HPX-300 P2 camcorder and a presentation outlining the highlights of the HPX-300 and the tapeless P2 Solid State recording format.

Tom also showed the HPX-170 P2 camcorder, the AG-HPG20 P2 field recorder w/ HD-SDI connectivity and the Panasonic AVHS-400 High Definition Production Switcher.



TeL Systems product specialist Paul Tyson showed the latest version of Grass Valley's EDIUS NLE
which offers the fastest editing operations and highest image quality of any NLE system to date. Attendees got to see for themselves why pros all over the world are turning to EDIUS for the best finishing tools, superior image quality and true realtime operations including full resolution HD monitoring without rendering.

Using the newest Grass Valley HD Thunder Hardware, Tyson showed how EDIUS 5 allows many layers of HD (including animated and keyed layers) in realtime with little or no rendering. Attendess saw how EDIUS 5 handles HD material from virtually any camera on the market (including Panasonic P2 of course) and easily re-purposes HD material into SD projects with a few mouse clicks.

Tyson also demonstrated to the audience how easily EDIUS handles the creation of web-based video and Blu-Ray Discs using the all-new Firecoder Blu hardware accelerator for Blu Ray.

With the falling prices on High Defnition Displays and exciting new signal distribution products, it's no secret that the digital signage market is hot. TeL Systems specialist Paul Tyson showed the latest version of Scala's Infochannel for Digital Information Displays, Retail Advertising & Lobby TV.

Infochannel 5 (the newest generation of Scala’s Award winning signage solution) was demonstrated and attendees got to see how Infochannel 5 allows remote access & control of message displays, support for 16x9 and 9x16 (portrait) and 4x3 displays, video & animation playback, split zones, w/ AP News and Local Weather crawls, advanced slide scheduling + lots more.

Tyson said "Scala has been a the right tool for our customers for more than 15 years running. There are numerous markets available for the Infochannel system including Hospitals, Universities, Waiting Areas/Commons. Lobby Info TV, Wayfinding Maps, Casino Gaming and Retail Advertising."

Numerous attendees expressed a great deal of interest in Scala Infochannel 5 and Digital Signage in general.

TeL Systems Paul Tyson showed the latest version of the AirWave Playout Automation System. Attendees learned how they could replace their tape decks and DVD players w/ AirWave 2, the latest generation of Playout Automation Server from TeL Systems and PlayBox Technologies. Tyson said "Tapeless playout automation is something that every broadcaster wants and needs."

Tyson showed how AirWave captures, schedules and plays video programs automatically without the time-consuming tasks of dealing w/ tapes and DVDs. Attendees learned how moving to a file-based workflow greatly reduces the time between taping and going to air.

"The AirWave Playout Server greatly improves efficiency running a TV station while increasing image and audio quality." Tyson said.

Direct file transfers from the EDIUS NLE System to the AirWave Playout System (via UltraSAN) were also shown.

AirWave allows capture from any video source tape-based or tapeless, then AirWave performs totally automated scheduling and play-to-air using simple point-and-click playlist creation + calendar-based scheduling.

AirWave's Realtime Titler powered by PlayBox TitleBox was demonstrated with animated graphics overlay, title crawls, rolls, clocks and other useful titling features for running a broadcast TV station.

"We have lots if AirWaves out in the field running Television Stations 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, year after year with a very high success rate and total uptime all the time. That's what AirWave has been designed to do." Tyson said.

"PlayBox has been a great partner and continues to develop powerful and reliable software for AirWave."
