The AirWave 2 Server from TeL systems provides automated video playout for cable TV stations, over-the-air broadcasters and corporate TV users. Super Easy Scheduling
AirWave features a friendly drag and drop user interface allowing you to setup and schedule video events with simplicity. If you have a basic familiarity with software and editing systems, you'll be right at home with AirWave. AirWave makes scheduling video programming for your channel easy and intuitive. Simply create a playlist then use the mouse to select a date and start time for that playlist. Users can set the "start time" for any program, schedule special events like logo inserts and external device controls, then AirWave does the rest. Schedules can be programmed days, weeks or months in advance of actual "Air Date".

Compatible with All Major NLEs
AirWave 2 supports every known production platform by providing direct AVI, Quicktime, MPEG2, MPEG-4 and Windows Media Video compatibility. This means that AirWave is easily interfaced to any PC or Mac based editing system. Just send your finished program material to AirWave for insertion into the playlist. GV EDIUS, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Vegas, Pinnacle and other editing solutions are fully supported.

Economical Video Storage
For budget-minded operations, AirWave provides excellent storage savings through MPEG2. At DVD picture quality (8 Mbit/sec) the new AirWave 2 includes enough storage capacity for 240 hours of full-motion, full-resolution video w/ stereo audio (16bit/48Khz). In addition, AirWave offer virtually limitless playback storage expansion possibilities with low cost off-the-shelf hard drive support. At these low bitrates, expensive SCSI or Fiberchannel storage are no longer "required" for reliable on-air playout. Powerful Playlist Features
AirWave allows any combination of AVI, Quicktime MPEG2, MPEG-4 and Windows Media Video (WMV) clips at differing resolutions, bitrates, profiles to be be played seamlessly with no glitches or hardware reinitialization. The cut from one clip to another is completely seamless even with live streams - no black frames, no pause, no last frame freeze, no audio pops, no glitches, no duration limitations... The continuous output stream can be sent to a variety of output platforms including standard head end channel modulators or it can be streamed through ASI or DVB digital broadcasting technology. AirWave is configurable to a broad range of encoding and playout applications and budget levels.

AirWave features a built-in clip editor that allows changes to the playlist - even during on-air playout! There are no “que'd” or “locked” clips. Every clip in the playlist (except the one which is currently playing) can be trimmed, edited or repositioned within the playlist. Moreover, playlist order can be changed on-the-fly with commands like “skip to next” or “Jump To Clip”.




Playlist order changes are performed seamlessly without stopping the current playout session. For automated playout AirWave allows Calendar Based time scheduling weeks ahead of play dates. Automatic "Gap Fill" means that gaps or time overlaps are automatically resolved in order to ensure continuous operation even when conflicting timed events are present.

Seamless Multi-Format Playback
Only AirWave 2 supports AVI, Quicktime MPEG2, MPEG-4 and Windows Media Video (WMV) digtal video formats including the ability to "mix" those formats within the same playlist. This capability gives a major performance benefit not found on any of AirWave's competitors.

Realtime On-the-Fly Clip editing!
An AirWave first! You can edit clips that are in already in the playlist. This makes AirWave a great solution for anyone who may need to make last minute changes to the program material. AirWave provides a comprehensive clip trimmer that allows you to perform cuts-only edits to MPEG-2, MPEG-4, AVI DV, QT DV, WMV and HDV with frame accurate results in both SD and HD formats. Imagine being able to open clips that are already scheduled for on-air playback - then perform edits to remove a section - trim the intro or the ending of video clips. You can even perform sophisticated sub-clipping in order to split large clips into multiple smaller clips. AirWave offers unprecedented capability without restrictions.

Automatic Log File
Playout sessions are logged for monitoring and control purposes. The log can be later used for extracting actual playout sequence with exact timings or identifying user intervention into the playout session. The logging and recovery options allow completely unattended remote operation.

Built-In Error Checking
AirWave has an integrated remultiplexing engine, ensuring the output stream is compliant with both NTSC and PAL broadcast standards. The multiplexing engine even goes so far as to correct any number of multiplexing errors such as unequal video/audio duration, missing or corrupted frames or packets, poor stream integrity, PTS/DTS inconsistencies, etc.

AirWave's Capture Module allows professional clip logging using timecode. VTR control is provided via DV (IEEE-1394) and RS-422 using industry standard 9 pin serial interface. AirWave's Capture Module supports high bitrate encoding using 4:2:2 sampling and bitrates up to 50 Megabit per second - for image quality far beyond DVD or Betacam SP.
Clips captured using the Capture Module are immediately available for scheduling & playback in the AirWave playlist.
