The EDIUS NX Express system can handle any mix of HD and SD video content; unlimited video, audio, title, and graphics layers; and any combination of real-time effects. It offers real-time, full-resolution, full-quality component HD and SD video output; bi-directional analog/DV conversion using our ADVC® technology and offers hardware connectivity for composite and S-Video I/O w/ line-level stereo audio I/O. Most important, the EDIUS NX Express system can preview your work in progress in high quality and full resolution—in real time—on the type of video monitor on which it is intended to be displayed, including HD displays.

EDIUS HD THUNDER is a premium, high-end solution for multi-format editing—one that supports both SDI and HD-SDI based editing and tapeless workflows and the ability to preview projects in real time, using affordable HDMI monitors.
It includes HD-SDI inputs and outputs, an HDMI video output for full-resolution, real-time preview monitoring, and embedded HDMI audio for high-quality audio monitoring. Among the features of the HD THUNDER solution are timecode input and output for accurate editing from field logs, reference input support for blackburst and tri-level sync, machine control for external VTR ingest, and optional VTR emulation software that that lets you control an EDIUS editor like a VTR for direct playout from the workstation. HD THUNDER also empowers you with a constantly synched, full-resolution preview of effects and content directly from the EDIUS timeline. As for the HD THUNDER board, it can handle any mix of high definition and standard-definition (HD and SD) video content; unlimited video, audio, title, and graphics layers; and any combination of real-time effects. It also offers real-time, full-resolution, full-quality HD and SD video output.

EDIUS features an intuitive multi-layered video and audio editing timeline with extensive feature-set and powerful realtime controls including 2D transitions like dissolves, soft-edge circle wipes, pushes and reveals + eye-popping realtime 3D transitions including page peels rotating cubes with mapped video on all sides, flying spheres with highlight and shadow. EDIUS includes hundreds of fully functioning Preset Transitions and all transitions are fully customizable which means that, all-in-all there are literally thousands of transition combinations possible.

Not Just Another Pretty Face - EDIUS Delivers Realtime Multi-Track Video Layering. No rendering required!
Realtime multi-track video layering is a standard feature with all of our EDIUS systems. In standard definition (SD), you can expect up to 12 realtime moving video layers and HD projects will allow up to 6 layers including moving PIP (Picture In Picture), video layers w/ 3D rotations in X,Y and Z axis and soft-edge borders. Layers can be any combination of video, chroma key, titles or graphics with both static and animated alpha channel.

EDIUS provides the type of realtime editing horsepower needed for demanding applications in both SD and HD formats. Other systems will require hours if not days to finish rendering what EDIUS delivers in realtime.

EDIUS includes a large variety of realtime video effect filters including three way color correction with automatic white balance, monotone colorizing, realtime blurring, embossing, pencil sketch, old movie effect with user-definable dust, hair, scratch and film grain. Other impressive filters include Strobing and Region filter. The EDIUS Region filter allows you to determine the amount of effect applied to a specific area of the screen - which is useful for blurring someone's face or logo to be unrecognizable.

EDIUS versus the competition

You may have heard that you can get realtime video editing performance with a reasonably powerful PC or Mac and some off-the-shelf video editing software. You may want to investigate these claims a little further. While there are a number of "software only" solutions available on the market, just how much realtime performance you get and whether that performance will meet your workflow needs are still critical questions. Even though many of the EDIUS performance advantages are based in hardware, the EDIUS software scales up realtime effects performance automatically when CPU power increases. The more CPU power your PC has, the more realtime effects you can expect. Furthermore, EDIUS solutions give you realtime, full quality, full frame rate outputs which allows you to preview your work in progress on the type of display on which it will ultimately be seen — a video display or TV including HDTVs. Unlike many other systems, EDIUS allows the user to view the output in realtime and print directly to tape or DVD without the need to "render" first. This capability includes digital outputs (Firewire, HDMI or SDI based) and analog outputs (composite, Y/C and component). In addition, EDIUS provides faster than realtime file-based output to ALL popular file formats including MPEG-2, MPEG-4, AVI, Quicktime, WMV and Flash.

While EDIUS solutions are an excellent choice for high-quality HD editing and monitoring, EDIUS is also fully SD compliant. That means that EDIUS supports all Standard Definition (SD) signals (both IN and OUT).
